SMEs committed to deforestation-free sourcing often lack the tools, traceability mechanisms, and supplier engagement models needed to act on their commitments.
What we did
Analyzed survey responses from 50+ SMEs to map progress, challenges, and maturity gaps. Evaluated certification schemes, traceability tools, and supplier engagement approaches, developing actionable guidance tailored to SMEs at different sustainability stages. Created decision-support tools and practical resources to improve responsible sourcing practices.
The impact
The analysis enabled SMEs to adopt more credible sourcing strategies, strengthen value-chain transparency, and progress toward deforestation-free procurement.
